Potty Training Blues

Okay all you brilliant moms! Here's your chance to shine. This potty training thing isn't going very well. Drew seems to be ready for this, but he's resisting (a shock, I know). He only pees in the potty when we tell him to (and he's usually already wet by then), and he almost always poops his pants. He used to at least tell us after he went in his diaper, but now he doesn't even do that. We've regressed! He has potty treats, but they don't seem to be incentive enough. We got him pull-ups, which he loves (and now he hates diapers, which we make him wear at night), but they're quite expensive to be just glorified diapers. We could use some tips, ideas of what has worked for you, ANYTHING! Don't be shy. We're open to anything!! Even if you think you've told me before, remind me!

It may just be that he really isn't ready. My pediatrician told me (at Ryan's 3 year well-child visit) not to "fight" about it because potty training was a battle I was sure to lose. That said, I decided to go the cold turkey route with Ryan (2 months after his 3rd birthday), and it worked. We had two days of pee on the floor and poop in his underwear, but after he realized that didn't feel so good he went in the potty from there on out. Best of luck. It can be a frustrating thing, for sure. Oh, and I should mention that charts and prizes/treats didn't work for us either. He quickly lost interest in both. It will happen...it will, it will!

Having no personal experience in potty training (besides my own, of course!!), I could only think of one thing...

I HATE POTTY TRAINING!!!!
Here is what helped me. (each kid was different) I bought party supplies each time she went party we rang our party bells turned up the music and ate cupcakes. It worked. I also stuck the porta-potty in the middle of the familyroom with towels and a big tub of warm water. So she could watch TV while she did her thing. She loved to play in the water and it helped trigger it. I also bought fun drinks (that helped her go too) CharLee we had to do a sticker chart with treats. Good luck. It's the worst and the best.
